Why Is Tampa a Top Destination for New Floridians?
Today I’m sharing why Tampa is a top destination for folks relocating to Florida.
With the nation’s attention turned toward Tampa this past Super Bowl week, I wanted to share with you some of the top reasons why people who do their research on Florida are choosing to relocate to this city in particular. Many of these reasons are the very same ones that prompted my husband and me to move here 25 years ago as newlyweds. It just goes to show that Tampa’s allure is long-lasting.
First of all, people choose our state for its great weather, lack of state income tax, and low cost of living. On top of that, the dramatic lifestyle changes brought about by the ongoing pandemic have made our homes even more important to us. Now that more people are working remotely and can explore virtually any market, access to the outdoors has become a chief demand. If you’re not familiar with Florida geography, Tampa is within an hour’s drive of world-class beaches, beloved entertainment destinations such as Disney World, and a host of other internationally coveted attractions.
Tampa has amazing golf courses, but if the green isn’t your thing, you can do what many of the locals do and enjoy paddle-boarding and kayaking. Are you a pro sports fanatic? Tampa is your town! We have major league baseball (the Tampa Bay Rays had a 2020 World Series appearance), professional football (the Buccaneers are this year’s Super Bowl champion), and professional hockey (the Tampa Bay Lightning were 2020 champions)!
Tampa is also a young town, unlike many other parts of Florida that have evolved into prime retirement spots over the decades. Though Tampa is a great place to retire, too, it primarily has year-round residents; the median age for a married couple here is around 36. There are tons of youth sports and activities, and it’s a great environment in which to raise a family. If your family is interested in having a vacation home, then you’ll love our airport, with its high volume of nationwide direct flights. It’s so easy to get to Tampa, and I truly believe ours is one of the best airports in the country.
Lastly, consider our job market. We’re still seeing so many major companies relocating their operations to the Tampa area, bringing jobs and economic growth along with them. So if you’ve never been to Tampa, I’d invite you to come take a look; we love visitors.
